Trans* Education and Determination: Part One

May 23, 2011 § Leave a comment

I’ll be writing a longer piece on the glorious success of Friday’s Trans* Education teach-in later on today –  the community gathering held as an alternative to the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ abortive “Transgender: Time to Change” conference.

But for now I just wanted to say how much I LOVE trans people’s fashion sense. Or senses. In short – the phenomenal range of fearless and original styles on display at each and every trans community event. Shaved heads? Pink hair? Subtle high-lights? Fashionable undercuts? Long silky waves? All of these things. Diamond studs. Flesh tunnels. Facial piercings. Lip gloss. So many DMs. Leather jackets. Lacy blouses. Political t-shirts. Goth. Classic. Flapper. Punk.

Gender pluralism makes me swoon.
